We transformed this long held residence in the Charles Square Residences into a refined pied à terre for clients seeking a contemporary base near Harvard. Purchased from the original owner of more than thirty years, the property required a full redesign of the kitchen and all three bathrooms, along with a new layout for the primary suite.

Light grey oak flooring now unifies the two levels and anchors a palette of calm neutrals paired with strong accents of deep anthracite. The existing dual level fireplace was reimagined in this dramatic tone and adapted to create a more defined architectural presence. This colour is echoed on the opposing dining wall, within the kitchen’s open shelving and throughout the mezzanine office bookcases, visually linking the two storey space and reinforcing its open connection to the sitting room below.

The kitchen was completely reconfigured to introduce a peninsula and central island, a hidden pantry and floating shelving that bring clarity and enhanced function. The primary suite was redesigned with a new walk in closet and a reconfigured bathroom layout that improves flow and comfort.

Throughout the home, we reinterpreted the clients photography in varying scales and formats, from oversized prints to metal installations and triptychs, creating an art gallery effect that adds depth and personal identity to each room.

The completed renovation brings light, cohesion and contemporary elegance to a residence with remarkable views over the Charles River and Harvard beyond, resulting in an elegant and sophisticated city retreat.
