LEXINGTON
We transformed this Lexington Deck House into a contemporary family retreat by replacing decades of dated finishes with a unified monochromatic palette and a focus on natural light. The redesign introduced clarity and flow where there had once been an eclectic mix of materials and competing architectural elements.
A soaring vaulted ceiling and a dramatic two story black fireplace now anchor the main living spaces.
Custom cabinetry, sculptural lighting and streamlined furnishings create a cohesive backdrop for daily living. In the kitchen, we introduced handleless custom cabinetry, black countertops and a dedicated wine enclosure that brings both function and visual structure to the space.
The family room was reimagined in deep black, centred around a generous window seat that frames a view of a Japanese maple tree. Upstairs, the primary suite was redesigned as a calm retreat with a custom walk in closet and a spa inspired bathroom featuring heated floors, an oversized shower and a sculptural bathtub.
We also revitalised the exterior with a bold black facade and a red sail that defines the deck and strengthens the home’s relationship to its hillside setting. The completed renovation brings modern simplicity, comfort and cohesion to a much loved architectural style.
This project is featured in Boston Home Magazine and received an Honorable Mention from the IDA, recognising its bold yet harmonious transformation.
